“Reflections on Methodology, Disasters, and Social Learning“
Studies in Emergent Order, Vol. 4 (2011)
Abstract
This paper is a response to the essays included in a special edition of Studies in Emergent Order on The Cultural and Political Economy of Recovery: Social Learning in a Post-Disaster Environment (Routledge 2010). The essays pursued the major themes of the book—ethnographic methods, the cultural and political economy of post-disaster recovery, and the nature of social learning in non-priced environments—and here I offer further reflection on each of these themes.
