Symposium on Stevenson’s The City

Studies in Emergent Order is proud to publish a symposium on Professor Deborah Stevenson’s The City. Dr. Stevenson’s book explores the fields of urban sociology and urban studies and how they shape our understandings of contemporary cities. She examines the basic theoretical and analytical frameworks used in urban studies and applies them to the most important issues in urban studies today, including urban diversity, urban crime, and how globalization and the recent financial crisis have affected cities.

This symposium features scholarly commentary and analysis on Dr. Stevenson’s book from a variety of scholars (including Peter Gordon, Sanford Ikeda, and David Andersson). Studies in Emergent Order is pleased that this symposium serves as an important edition to the literature on the economics and sociology of urbanism.

Studies in Emergent Order (SIEO) is an open-access journal dedicated to fostering research, discussion and publication concerning the roles played by and implications of emergent order phenomena, particularly in society but not excluding other areas.
